Red Wings Team Report
(Sun, 22 Nov 2009 01:37:57 PST)
During a season in which they have been besieged by injuries, the Red Wings lost another key player on Saturday when defenseman Niklas Kronwall sustained an injury to his left knee.
The club won't know for sure the severity of the injury until Kronwall undergoes tests on Sunday, but general manager Ken Holland said the initial indication is that it's a sprain of the medial collateral ligament and Kronwall will be out a minimum of two weeks.
Kronwall was injured at 8:52 of the first period when Canadiens forward Georges Laraque stuck out his left leg and tripped him in the Montreal zone during a delayed penalty call.
Laraque said it was an accident and believes referees validated that by assessing him only a minor penalty for tripping.
