Penguins Team Report

Defenseman Martin Skoula was signed before the season to serve as the Penguins' seventh defenseman. However, a rash of injuries to five of six regulars since Oct. 20 has forced Skoula into playing more than coaches expected.
Skoula has produced when called upon. He has scored three goals in 14 games, including two Saturday night in a win at Atlanta.
The Penguins are weeks from getting their full complement of defensemen back into the lineup, so Skoula will continue to receive about 15 minutes of ice time every night—not shabby for a guy who couldn't find work before the season.
For his part, Skoula has accepted his role on the Penguins. He called his opportunity to chase another championship—he won the Cup with Colorado in 2001—"a dream." ...

The injury-thinned Pittsburgh Penguins are down another player. Defenseman Jay McKee has an infected finger that will keep him out two to four weeks.
