Panthers Team Report
(Sun, 21 Mar 2010 01:35:45 PDT)
The Panthers might just be playing for a draft pick.
With the hope of making the postseason fading faster with each day, the Panthers could help their future just by forsaking the present. With Saturday's loss to Buffalo, the Panthers slipped to 14th place in the Eastern Conference as Carolina, which got off to a horrid start this season, moved up a spot.
And the Panthers could even sink lower. Toronto, which has been in last for much of the season, is only three points behind Florida.
The Panthers have done OK for themselves when taking high picks throughout their history, starting with making Ed Jovanovski the top pick of the 1994 draft. Current Panthers Stephen Weiss and Nathan Horton were also high picks.

Ryan Miller made 31 saves for the Northeast Division-leading Sabres, who have won two straight.
