The Lightning brought in veteran goaltender Olie Kolzig to provide a safety net in the event Mike Smith was not up to the task of handling the No. 1 role. But Kolzig is the one in need of a cushion to stop his own fall.
Kolzig was pulled for the second consecutive game Saturday against Colorado and has allowed at least three goals in each of his last four starts. During that span, Kolzig has allowed 16 goals on 107 shots—a .850 save percentage—while posting a 5.65 goals-against average. For the season, the 37-year-old is 1-4-1 with a 4.11 goals-against average and .887 save percentage.
"We've all been there, and as a goalie it can be tough," Smith said.

Stars get Hutchinson from Lightning for Tukonen

The Dallas Stars acquired defenseman Andrew Hutchinson from the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday, trading away the rights to winger Lauri Tukonen, who plays in Europe. Hutchinson has appeared in 97 career games with Nashville, Carolina and Tampa Bay. He has 10 goals and 23 assists. He is scoreless in two appearances with Tampa Bay this season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning traded minor league center Wyatt Smith to the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday for future considerations. Smith played in 18 games with Norfolk of the AHL this season. The 31-year-old forward has played in 211 career NHL games with Phoenix, Nashville, Minnesota, Colorado and the New York Islanders.
