Bruins Team Report

The Bruins just continue to pass all the tests. Saturday night, they passed another one.
"They've got a lot of pieces on their team. They have a chance to be successful," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said after his team was thumped by the B's at TD Banknorth Garden, which was sold out for the second time in as many days.
This was a time when the cracks could have shown for the Bruins if those cracks in fact exist. It was the Bruins' 10th game in 18 nights, the second game of a back-to-back, their No. 1 goalie, Tim Thomas, was sick, and the Stanley Cup champions were in town.
But the cracks didn't show. At least there were virtually none after a slow start, and the team again showed this may well be more than just some sort of early season fluke.

Hubert "Pit" Martin dies in snowmobile accident

Hubert "Pit" Martin, a four-time NHL All-Star in the 1960s and '70s, has died after his snowmobile plunged into an icy lake, Quebec provincial police said. He was 64. Const. Marie-Josee Ouellet said Martin was driving the vehicle on Lake Kanasuta in northwestern Quebec on Sunday when the ice cracked and he plunged into the freezing water.

Bruins send Lashoff to Providence

The Bruins reassigned defenseman Matt Lashoff to the team's AHL affiliate in Providence on Thursday. The 22-year-old Lashoff was called up Nov. 19 and was a healthy scratch for the Bruins' last three games. Before rejoining Boston, Lashoff had 3 goals, 10 assists and 21 penalty minutes in 15 games for Providence.
