Colts Team Report
(Tue, 02 Dec 2008 04:19:51 PST)
Tony Dungy isn't interested in style points.
A win is a win is a win. Which means that Dungy isn't about to apologize for the Colts' 10-6 win over the Browns on Sunday.
Yes, the Colts didn't play as well offensively as they had in past games. Yes, Indianapolis failed to score an offensive touchdown for the first time since the last road trip to Cleveland Browns Stadium in 2003.
But the Indianapolis coach also knows that, thanks to a strong game by his defense and special teams units, his team posted its fifth straight victory and stands at 8-4 for the season heading into this week's home game with Cincinnati.
"I look at every game, how we played," Dungy said.
Seeing through Savage
(Tue, 02 Dec 2008 03:36:00 PST)
Browns GM Phil Savage has no qualms about throwing head coach Romeo Crennel under the bus to try and save his job.
Mathis, Freeney provide stability on Colts defense
(Tue, 02 Dec 2008 00:53:25 PST)
Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis can deliver knockout punches faster than anyone on Indianapolis' defense. Using speed and leverage to get past much larger offensive linemen, they schedule regular meetings in opposing backfields and routinely turn carefully calculated game plans into utter chaos. Just ask the Cleveland Browns.

NFL Capsules
(Sun, 30 Nov 2008 20:45:26 PST)
Pittsburgh's NFL-best defense stopped Matt Cassel's two-game offensive surge and pushed New England closer to strange territory: a sideline seat for the playoffs. The Steelers held the Patriots to 267 yards, got two touchdown passes from Ben Roethlisberger and four field goals from Jeff Reed and beat the Patriots 33-10 on a cold, rainy Sunday.
Colts top Browns for 5th straight win
(Sun, 30 Nov 2008 15:37:08 PST)
Peyton Manning stepped up to the podium for a postgame interview like he has done so many times following an Indianapolis win. But this time there were no touchdown passes to review, no career milestones to celebrate, no last-minute scoring drive for him to detail. The quarterback wasn't the star. The Colts had 11 on defense.
Sanders, Saturday sit for Colts
(Sun, 30 Nov 2008 10:02:51 PST)
The Indianapolis Colts were without starting safety Bob Sanders and center Jeff Saturday on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Sanders missed his third straight game with an injured right knee while Saturday sat out with strained calf as the Colts (7-4) tried to extend their winning streak to five games.

(Sat, 29 Nov 2008 15:44:18 PST)
Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders will miss Sunday's game in Cleveland against the Browns because of his ailing right knee. Last season's NFL defensive player of the year did not make the trip to Cleveland. Sunday's game will be the third straight game that Sanders has missed. He missed five games earlier this season with a high ankle sprain.

Streaking Colts may be getting hot at right time
(Wed, 26 Nov 2008 15:10:44 PST)
It took the Indianapolis Colts two months to find their groove. Now the Colts are as hot as any team in the league. They swept what was supposed to be their most brutal stretch of the season and have a favorable closing schedule that propel them to a playoff berth. But players and coaches are keeping things in perspective.

He was eligible to return to the active roster Monday, but will remain on the physically unable to perform list. Lilja will have surgery for the injury. Colts, Bolts have another go-round
(Sat, 22 Nov 2008 21:02:10 PST)
Peyton Manning had more than his fill of the Chargers last season, from his franchise-worst, six-interception game in the rain in San Diego to a playoff loss to the Bolts in the final game in the RCA Dome. This year, he could help determine whether the stumbling Chargers make it back to the postseason.
Colts CB Hayden expected back for San Diego game
(Fri, 21 Nov 2008 12:35:28 PST)
Colts coach Tony Dungy said Friday there's a good chance cornerback Kelvin Hayden will return to the starting lineup for Sunday night's game at San Diego. The status of safety Bob Sanders, however, probably won't be determined until just before gametime, Dungy said. Sanders, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year last season, has had swelling in his right knee the past two weeks and was inactive for...

Coach Tony Dungy was uncertain about Sanders' status for Sunday's game at San Diego.
Manning finds old form in Colts' winning streak
(Wed, 19 Nov 2008 15:28:33 PST)
Peyton Manning watches the last three games and sees progress. Not perfection, but at least he and the Colts are beginning to play like their old selves. Manning is throwing more touchdowns, fewer interceptions, avoiding sacks and winning games with his masterful play calling. He's spreading the ball around, opening up running lanes with passes and, yes, he's finally in sync with the receivers.
