Bears staggering after 37-3 pounding by Packers
(Tue, 18 Nov 2008 08:20:57 PST)
Kyle Orton was limping, and now, so are the rest of the Chicago Bears. Although the Bears apparently suffered no breaks or tears, a 37-3 loss at Green Bay on Sunday left them with one big bruise to the ego -- and left the NFC North race a muddled mess. "We know what's at stake, but you have to let this one hurt a couple days," center Olin Kreutz said Monday.

Bears Team Report
(Mon, 17 Nov 2008 23:39:29 PST)

Bears coach Lovie Smith didn't have much good to say about Sunday's 37-3 loss to the Packers, but he was ready to put it in the past.

"It goes without saying that we weren't ready to play the football game this past week," Smith said. "(But) you have to move on, and that's what we've done. We have a six-game season starting up right now."

Smith's players didn't feel any better about their performance after watching the film Monday morning, but they, too, were anxious to look ahead.

"We saw a lot of them kicking our butts," six-time Pro Bowl center Olin Kreutz said. "We've got to get that corrected. We're really frustrated. We didn't do much (on offense) to help our team."

For the second straight week the offense was saddled with poor field position.

SCOREBOARD Monday, Nov. 17 Cleveland at Buffalo (8:30 p.m. EST). The slumping Bills try to keep pace with New England and Miami for second place in the wide-open AFC East. Orton, rest of Bears turn in pitiful performance
(Sun, 16 Nov 2008 16:10:57 PST)
The end came appropriately for Kyle Orton. Facing fourth-and-10 midway through the fourth quarter, the Bears quarterback simply dropped the ball. Orton bobbled a clean shotgun snap, losing it to Packers defensive end Jason Hunter who scooped up the ball and ran untouched for a touchdown in Green Bay's 37-3 victory on Sunday.

Bears QB Orton active, starts vs. Pack
(Sun, 16 Nov 2008 10:15:12 PST)
Chicago Bears quarterback Kyle Orton was active and started Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Orton sat out last week's loss to Tennessee because of a sprained right ankle. As expected, A.J. Hawk moved inside to middle linebacker for the Packers after Nick Barnett sustained a season-ending knee injury in a loss at Minnesota last week.

Bears' Orton probable for Green Bay game
(Fri, 14 Nov 2008 16:55:14 PST)
Quarterback Kyle Orton was listed as probable for the Chicago Bears' game at Green Bay on Sunday. Orton sat out a 21-14 loss to Tennessee last week with a sprained right ankle. He was taken from the field on a cart late in the first half of a win over Detroit on Nov. 2. Orton is enjoying a breakout season with 1,777 yards and 10 touchdowns after beating former starter Rex Grossman in a preseason...

Bears feel passing tension on defense
(Thu, 13 Nov 2008 16:27:57 PST)
The passing insecurity Chicago Bears cornerback Corey Graham felt this week had little to do with the fact that he's just in his second season and lacks the resume of his accomplished teammates. Something else was making him uncomfortable. He wasn't alone, either. The Bears are getting picked apart by passes and they're about to head to Green Bay, where the Packers rarely hand the ball off.

Titans keep winning, Lions keep losing
(Mon, 10 Nov 2008 01:11:30 PST)
The status quo remained unchanged. The surging Tennessee Titans keep winning, and the listless Detroit Lions keep losing. Kerry Collins threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns, and Tennessee beat the Chicago Bears 21-14 Sunday to stay perfect through nine games -- despite rushing for just 20 yards, a franchise-low for a team that had been third in the league.

Bears go with Grossman; Titans' Vanden Bosch sits
(Sun, 09 Nov 2008 10:23:27 PST)
Kyle Orton was listed as the Chicago Bears' third quarterback Sunday against the unbeaten Tennessee Titans, who held out defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch. A two-time Pro Bowl pick, Vanden Bosch has been bothered by a strained groin since Oct. 5, so Dave Ball started at right defensive end. Outside linebacker Keith Bulluck was available to play in his 106th straight game after cracking cartilage in...

(Fri, 07 Nov 2008 21:26:35 PST)

Orton practices, but start vs. Tenn. unlikely
(Fri, 07 Nov 2008 15:51:43 PST)
Chicago Bears quarterback Kyle Orton practiced Friday for the first time since getting injured, but an appearance in Sunday's game at Soldier Field against the unbeaten Tennessee Titans appears unlikely. Orton, who sprained his right ankle last Sunday against the Detroit Lions, was doubtful on the official injury report after working out Friday only during individual passing drills.
