Suns Team Report
(Sat, 21 Nov 2009 01:36:29 PST)
If the Suns were ever going to break the TNT curse—which had reached a ridiculous 15 games dating to the 2008 playoffs—this figured to be the night.
The Suns were coming off a big win in Houston and had just throttled the Hornets by 20 a week earlier in Phoenix. The Hornets were running a new system after firing Bryon Scott and have no one to turn to with Chris Paul sidelined by injury. Even TNT was at less than full strength with play-by-play man Kevin Harlan's voice reduced to a whisper by illness.
Was it enough? Not a chance. Call it the un-sweet 16.
Peja Stojakovic, who was 0-for-8 from 3-point range in Phoenix, hit 7 of 11 tries this time. The Hornets grabbed 56 rebounds, including 23 on the offensive glass to make up for a poor shooting night.
