Pacers Team Report
(Sat, 21 Nov 2009 01:36:29 PST)
The wakeup call has been delivered to second-year swingman Brandon Rush. A game after coach Jim O'Brien stuck him on the bench for most of the fourth quarter, Rush responded by scoring 16 points in 39 minutes against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"Brandon Rush played a very strong offensive game," O'Brien said. "We need that from him on a consistent basis."
Rush's strong play comes at a good time because playing time soon might become an issue for all the swingmen on the roster. Mike Dunleavy, who has played in only 17 games the last two seasons, is expected to make his season debut sometime next week. Dunleavy has been out with a right knee injury.
O'Brien said he likes the idea of having open competition for playing time.
