It looks as if winning on the road once again will be a trademark of this Orlando team. The Magic will play Sunday afternoon in Toronto, confident as ever about winning away from home.
Since Stan Van Gundy became coach of the Magic before the 2007-08 season, the Magic have compiled a 58-30 road record. Last season they had the second-most road victories in the league (27), trailing only the Los Angeles Lakers.
They are coming off a convincing victory Friday night at Boston, where they beat the Celtics 83-78 after leading almost the entire game. It wasn't easy, but it was indicative of the Magic's mental toughness under Van Gundy. They are 4-2 this season on the road.

Vince Carter scored 26 points to lead the Orlando Magic to a 83-78 win over the Boston Celtics on Friday, in a reprise of last season's NBA Eastern Conference semifinal. Rashard Lewis had 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Magic extended its winning streak to four. Paul Pierce scored 21 for an out-of-form Boston.

Magic Johnson would go along with LeBron James' plan to have NBA players stop wearing No. 23. James said last week he would change jersey numbers next season in honor of Michael Jordan, and said no other players should wear it, either. Magic's Nelson to have surgery on left knee

Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson needs surgery again. The All-Star will have arthroscopic surgery Wednesday on torn cartilage in his left knee, the team said. He is expected to miss four to six weeks. Nelson was injured in the fourth quarter of Monday night's win against Charlotte. But he finished the game on the court and showed no signs of injury.
Magic's Gortat misses game with flu

Magic center Marcin Gortat has tested positive for the flu. Coach Stan Van Gundy made the announcement after Gortat missed Orlando's 97-91 win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday night. A Magic spokesman says the team's medical staff sent a sample swab from Gortat to health officials to test for swine flu.

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has been fined $15,000 by the NBA for publicly criticizing officials on his blog. The league made the announcement Tuesday. The comments were posted on Howard's blog after the Magic's loss to Detroit last week. Howard fouled out in the game after playing a little more than 16 minutes.
Magic's Carter returns from sprained ankle

Orlando Magic guard Vince Carter has returned after missing four games with a sprained left ankle. Carter didn't start, but checked in to start the second quarter in Tuesday's game against Charlotte.
